Franz Hamburger (pedagogue)

Franz Hamburger (born June 9, 1946 in Hördt ) is a German university professor and educator .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1966, Hamburg studied sociology, education and philosophy in Cologne and Heidelberg, where he obtained the title Magister Artium in 1972 in the subjects of sociology, education and philosophy. From 1972 to 1978 he was an assistant at the educational science seminar at Heidelberg University, where he received his doctorate in education in 1975 . From 1978 to 2011 he teaches social education at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz .

Services

Hamburger's work focuses on migration and minorities and international comparison in social education . In 1992, together with employees of the Pedagogical Institute of the University of Mainz and practitioners from the field of social policy, he founded the Institute for Social Pedagogical Research (ISM) in Mainz as a non-profit organization for the innovation and evaluation of social work. Hamburger is, among other things, active in the German Society for Educational Sciences (DGfE) and was one of the speakers at their educational congress in March 2010.
