On September 9, 1838, he was introduced to the parish in Salbke at the St. Gertraud Church , which was later built . Here he founded a private preparatory institute run by him, in which he ran teacher training and had a positive effect on rural schools . He gained great recognition with this institution. He also gave private tuition to students. One of his students was the later very well-known Germanist Hermann Paul . On the occasion of his 25th anniversary as Salbker pastor, on the initiative of the parish, a Christian foundation was founded from a collection among its members on September 9, 1863 for the benefit of the community, which was named in his honor as the Heyne Foundation and which he chaired. He stayed in Salbke until 1878 and was then pastor in Jersleben until his death in 1886. His burial took place in Salbke.
