Franz Horr

Franz Horr (born April 16, 1913 in Vienna ; † January 6, 1974 in Vienna) was an Austrian social democratic politician and president of the Vienna Football Association .

Franz Horr learned to be a carpenter after four classes in elementary school and four classes in middle school. From 1931 to 1940 he worked as a laborer and carpenter. In 1934 he worked for the Revolutionary Socialists of Austria and remained so until the "Anschluss" . In 1946 he was employed by the Austrian Trade Union Federation (ÖGB), and in 1964 he became President of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees in Lower Austria. In addition, he was district party chairman of the SPÖ Baden and deputy state party chairman of the SPÖ Lower Austria.

From 1953 until his death, Franz Horr was a member of the National Council and from 1972 also President of the Vienna Football Association . The stadium on Laaer Berg , which opened in August 1982 and became the new home of Wiener Austria , bore his name until the end of 2010.

In 2011, in Vienna- Favoriten (10th district) in front of the entrance to this stadium, now known as the Generali Arena , the Horrplatz was named after him.
