Franz II von Taxis (* around 1514 in Mechelen ; † between December 22nd and 31st, 1543 in Brussels ) was the top postmaster of Emperor Charles V after the death of his father Johann Baptista von Taxis . On August 5th, 1536, Charles awarded him V. the entitlement to the successor of his father in the post of general postmaster . Because of his short term in office, little is known about his work, with the exception of a few documents.

During the tenure of Franz II von Taxis, the confirmation of the transfer of ownership of the post offices in Bobenheim near Worms , Diedelsheim and Rheinhausen , and in 1543 the award of the imperial post offices in Augsburg and Roßhaupten (Rochapt) near Scheppach for life to Seraphin I von Taxis took place . After his death, both post offices were to revert to the General Postmaster's Office. Furthermore, Francis II had lent the post office in Venice to his cousin Roger von Taxis in 1541, as can be seen from an imperial confirmation of July 20, 1541.

On February 9, 1542, he concluded an agreement with his brother Raimond , the correyo major in Spain, and his uncle Simon , who ran the imperial post office in Milan, that regulated mutual competencies.

Francis II von Taxis was buried after his death between December 22nd and 31st, 1543 in the Notre Dame du Sablon church in Brussels .

On December 31, 1543, Charles V transferred the post of general postmaster to Leonhard I von Taxis , who was still a minor , a brother of Franz II von Taxis.
