Franz Joseph Ross

Franz Joseph Ross (also: Roß ; in the Landtag Handbuch as Franz Joseph IV Roos ) (born September 4, 1881 in Bensheim ; † August 2, 1949 there ) was a Hessian politician ( SPD ) and a former member of the Landtag of the People's State of Hesse in the Weimarer Republic .

Franz Joseph Ross was the son of the day laborer Franz Joseph Ross III. and his wife Kleopha Barbara nee Michler. After graduating from elementary school, he trained as a painter and varnisher. Until 1912 he worked as a whiter and musician. 1907–1909 and 1911–1914 he was chairman of OKK Bensheim. From 1912 to 1913 he was an independent master craftsman, then from 1913 to December 1915 warehouse keeper at the Weinheim consumer association. From January 1916 to December 1918 he was an employee of the OKK of the Bensheim district. After the November Revolution he became head of the Bensheim District Labor Office in January 1919, where he was last a member of the government. With the seizure of power by the Nazis, he was removed from his post.

Franz Joseph Ross was a Catholic and married to Katharina, born in Morocco.

From 1912 to 1933 and 1945 to 1949 he was a city councilor in Bensheim. From 1919 to 1931 he was a member of the state parliament.
