Franz Karl Stadlin

Franz Karl Stadlin (born March 9, 1815 in Zug ; † March 17, 1894 there ) was a Swiss engineer and railway tunnel builder .

Life

Stadlin came from a Catholic family in Zug. He was the son of Franz Karl Stadlin and brother of Josephine Stadlin . He married Augustina Antonia Clamaron from Lyon. Until 1835 he went to school at the Hofwil Institute . From 1838 to 1840 he studied mathematics at the University of Zurich and at the Sorbonne in Paris. In 1841 he received his doctorate as Dr. phil. at the University of Bern .

Stadlin worked as a mathematician and engineer. From 1841 to 1844 he was a teacher at his sister Josephine's institute in Zurich. From 1843 to 1845 he was a lecturer at the University of Zurich. From 1846 to 1847 he was the chief engineer and surveyor in the construction of the first Swiss railway tunnel in Baden AG . From 1853 to 1854 he was an engineer in the construction of water pipes for the new Baar ZG spinning mill , and in 1857 he was an engineer in the construction of the Hauenstein line . In 1859 he was construction manager of the railway line from Zug to Cham ZG . At the end of the 1880s, Stadler dealt with ambitious projects to correct the Lorze and to improve the traffic development of the Zug mountain area.
