Franz Leibl

Franz Leibl (* 1957 ) is a German conservationist and ornithologist . Since May 1, 2011 he has been chairman of the administration of the Bavarian Forest National Park .

Life

Franz Leibl grew up near Straubing . He studied biology at the University of Regensburg . After completing his degree, he did his doctorate there on biodiversity on windthrow areas in the Bavarian Forest National Park. He was then employed by the government of the Upper Palatinate , before becoming head of the higher nature conservation authority of the government of Lower Bavaria in Landshut in 1998 . Since this year he has also been a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the State Association for Bird Protection in Bavaria . In mid-September 2010, the Bavarian Ministry of the Environment appointed Franz Leibl as the designated head of the Bavarian Forest National Park. After his predecessor Karl Friedrich Sinner retired from the administration on April 30, 2011, Leibl took over the management of the national park administration the following day. After 41 years of existence, it was the first time that someone born in Lower Bavaria took on this position.
