Franz Leopold Ignatius von Beck zu Willmendingen , also Franz Leopold Maria von Beck zu Willmendingen , (born February 18, 1752 in Willmendingen Castle ; † December 18, 1833 ) was a theologian and canon of the St. Verena monastery in Bad Zurzach.

Life

He came from the family of the Barons von Willmendingen near Schwerzen , an ancestor was Johann Jakob von Beck . He studied theology and canon law in the Marchtal monastery , in Freiburg im Uechtland and in Rome . On October 27, 1773 he was appointed canon by Bishop Franz Konrad von Rodt and installed on November 15. In 1780 he moved into the Verenahof.

On June 24, 1799, he traveled as a delegate to Archduke Karl Ludwig of Austria-Teschen to the headquarters of the Imperial Army in Kloten, together with Canon von Hauser and municipal presidents Josef Leonz Attenhofer and Friedrich Rudolf . They received a patent or Sauvegarde from him to protect the property rights of the residents and visitors to the Zurzach trade fair . Von Beck mainly referred to the former protectorate of the Habsburgs. A printed copy of the patent is in the Museum Höfli in Zurzach. After 1799 he moved to live with relatives, probably in Waldshut.

From 1801 to 1807 (during the period of regained self-government) he was assistant collegiate administrator for the Ennetrheinischen incline . He was an admirer of relics and bequeathed his collection (including those of Francis of Assisi ) to the Verena minster in 1806, and other particles to the Church of St. John the Baptist in Schwerzen.

From 1841 onwards, the Covenant of Canons dissolved. In 1876 the pen was abolished.
