Franz Michael Benz (born January 1, 1809 in Greding , † August 8, 1882 in Heideck ) was a Bavarian businessman and member of the state parliament.

Career

Franz Michael Benz was born on January 1st, 1809 in Greding as the first child of the local tanner and mayor Franz Martin Benz and his wife Rosina (née Forster). On January 31, 1832, he married the widow Rosina Benz in Heideck and took over her department store "Benz-Plank" (house number 45). In 1839 Franz Michael was elected mayor of Heideck for the first time. From 1843 to 1853 he was again mayor of the city of Heideck. On April 29, 1861, he moved into the Chamber of Deputies of the Bavarian State Parliament as the successor to the resigned Ernst von Lasaulx . He was a member of the 20th state parliament and represented the constituency of Neumarkt id Oberpfalz. Between 1870 and 1875 he was also for the constituency of Neumarkt / Opf. Represented in the 24th - 26th Landtag of the Bavarian Parliament.

He was a member of the Patriot Party (which later became the Bavarian Center Party and the Bavarian People's Party ). After the faction split, he was close to Edmund Jörg's wing .
