Franz Olschowsky

Franz Olschowsky (born March 25, 1937 ; † August 30, 2012 ) was a German director of music theater .

Life

Franz Olschowsky studied theater studies and directing in Weimar from 1961 to 1963 and then to 1968 in Berlin , with Walter Felsenstein and Götz Friedrich .

Then he was brought in by Harry Kupfer as an assistant at the German National Theater in Weimar .

From there, Olschowsky went to Freiberg as senior director , until he followed the call of the city of Gera in 1972 . Olschowsky worked there for more than 25 years - from 1989 to 1992 as the opera director.

He staged around 100 works of all genres of musical theater, such as the operas Der Rosenkavalier , Der fiegen Holländer , Salome , Jenufa , Macbeth as well as musicals such as Cabaret and Evita and numerous operettas, most recently in 1998 Die chaste Susanne .
