František Pošepný

František Pošepný (born March 30, 1836 in Jilemnice , Bohemia, † March 27, 1895 in Vienna ) was a Czech mining geologist.

Live and act

Pošepný studied from 1852 at the Polytechnic Institute in Prague and from 1857 to 1859 at the Montanlehranstalt in Príbram . He then worked in the civil service, a. a. from 1863 to 1865 at the Geological Reichsanstalt in Vienna , then as a mining geologist in the kk agriculture ministry , where he was appointed kk Bergrath . In 1879 he received a lectureship in special geology of the deposits in Príbram. In 1882 he became an associate professor and in 1887 a full professor. In 1889 he retired due to illness.

František Pošepný, married to Clotilde Wowes-Prellogg, died at the age of 59 after a long period of severe suffering (mourning house: Karl-Ludwigstraße 62; today: Richard-Kralik-Platz  1, Vienna-Währing ); he was buried on March 30, 1895 in the family vault in the cemetery of Starkenbach , Bohemia , to rest.
