Franz Rechnitzer

Franz Rechnitzer (born October 4, 1927 in Deutsch Jahrndorf ; † September 16, 1987 in Wiener Neustadt ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. Rechnitzer was a member of the Burgenland Landtag from 1956 to 1968 .

Life

Rechnitzer was born as the son of the farmer Johann Rechnitzer and attended elementary school in Deutsch Jahrndorf. He then worked in his parents' farm from 1941. During the Second World War he served in the Wehrmacht from 1944 to 1945 , where he was taken prisoner by the British. After the war, Rechnitzer took over the agricultural college in Neusiedl am See between 1949 and 1950 and finally took over the family business in 1962.

Rechnitzer was head of the deanery between 1949 and 1953 and then from 1953 to 1956 the diocesan youth leader of the Catholic rural youth. In addition, from 1953 to 1956 he was involved as regional chairman of the regional youth organization and graduate representative of the farming schools in Burgenland.

Rechnitzer was active in local politics and was elected to the municipal council in Deutsch Jahrndorf in 1954. In 1962 he was promoted to deputy mayor, after which he held the office of mayor from 1972 to 1982. Rechnitzer represented the ÖVP between June 11, 1956 and April 17, 1968 in the Burgenland state parliament and was also active within the party from 1959 as the district secretary of the ÖVP-Neusiedl am See.
