Franz by Paula Rosalino
Franz von Paula Rosalino (born March 31, 1736 in Vienna ; † February 20, 1793 ibid) was an Austrian Catholic theologian, book censor and Bible translator.
Rosalino was ordained a priest in 1759. He liked to devote himself to philosophy and French and German literature. In 1782 he was appointed theological book censor by Joseph II , and he administered this office very liberally.
He became known for his Bible translation, published in several editions with the permission of Christoph Anton Cardinal von Migazzi : Cartier's Bible served as the basis , which he improved on the basis of the Vulgate . Where the Vulgate text was unclear, Rosalino relied on the original languages, with the support of Patriz Fast.
