Franz Sauerzopf

Franz Sauerzopf (born May 17, 1932 in Mattersburg ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). Sauerzopf was a member of the Burgenland state parliament , deputy governor and long-time regional councilor in the Burgenland state government .

education and profession

Sauerzopf attended elementary school and the Bundesrealgymnasium Mattersburg and, after graduating from high school , studied law at the University of Vienna from 1950 . In 1954 he received his doctorate as Dr. iur. While he was already working, Sauerzopf also studied at the University of World Trade and obtained the academic degree Mag. Rec. soc. oec.

After graduating in 1954, Sauerzopf completed his legal internship at various courts in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland, and from 1955 he was a trainee judge. After his appointment as judge on May 12, 1958, he was initially head of the court at the Eisenstadt district court. He later moved to the Eisenstadt Regional Court and the Higher Regional Court. He was chairman of the Social Insurance Arbitration Court and most recently chairman of the Senate at the Eisenstadt Regional Court. In addition, Sauerzopf taught at the commercial school from 1964 and between 1966 and 1978 at the Eisenstadt commercial academy. In 1993, Sauerzopf retired.

politics

Sauerzopf represented the ÖVP in the city council of Mattersburg between 1967 and 1978 and was regional party leader of the ÖVP Burgenland between 1978 and 1982 and between 1985 and 1991 . Sauerzopf was elected to the state parliament on November 3, 1972 and was a member of the state government and deputy governor from July 26, 1978. In connection with the WBO scandal , he resigned from the government on July 4, 1982 and moved back to the state parliament from October 29, 1982 to January 27, 1986. Between January 27, 1986 and April 21, 1993 Sauerzopf was again Provincial Councilor and Deputy Governor in Burgenland. In 1987 Sauerzopf tried to be elected governor with the help of the FPÖ , but this failed because of the " Munzenrieder affair ". He later warned against cooperation with the FPÖ.

Private

Sauerzopf is married, his father Franz Sauerzopf was a telegraph specialist in Mattersburg.
