Franz Schüppen

Franz Schüppen (* 1930 in Herne ; † November 30, 2013 there ) was a German literary scholar .

After graduating from high school in Herne, Franz Schüppen studied in Münster , Paris and Marburg . He was then a teacher in Lorraine , high school teacher in Bielefeld and from 1960 in Bochum . In 1969 Schüppen became director of studies. In 1979 he received his doctorate in Munich . In 1994 he retired.

He researched and published on the literary and intellectual history of the 19th century, on German-American literary relations and on Westphalia .
