Franz Schütz (politician, 1908)

Franz Schütz (born May 26, 1908 in Linz ; † November 17, 1984 ibid) was an Upper Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and master butcher. Schütz was a member of the Upper Austrian Landtag from 1945 to 1971 , at times ÖVP club chairman deputy provincial councilor and from 1945 to 1949 economic councilor in the Upper Austrian provincial government .

education and profession

Schütz attended grammar school in Linz and, after graduating from high school, studied law at the University of Vienna , where he received his doctorate in law. Professionally, he worked as a master butcher in Linz, where he worked in his parents' business and passed the journeyman's examination in 1929 and the master craftsman's examination in 1937. In 1936, after the death of his father, he took over the family business. From 1945 he was a member of the Presidium and from 1940 Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce in Upper Austria, and between 1957 and 1980 he was President of the Chamber of Commerce in Upper Austria. Schütz also held numerous functions on supervisory boards. He was chairman of the supervisory board of Schwefelbad Schallerbach GmbH and a member of the board of Volkskreditbank reg. Gen.mbH Upper Austria, deputy chairman of the Kühlhaus-AG Upper Austria and deputy chairman of the Austrian duty-free zone operating company. Furthermore, he was a member of the board of trustees of the Landes-Hypothekenanstalt Oberösterreich, deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Donau-Dampfschiffahrts-Gesellschaft Wien, a member of the supervisory board of Schiffswerft Korneuburg AG and chairman of the supervisory board of Schiffswerft Linz AG.

Politics and functions

After the Second World War, Schütz became chairman of the Upper Austrian Economic Association, where he held this position between September 12, 1945 and October 6, 1970. From October 26, 1945, he was also economic councilor in the provisional state government appointed by the American occupation forces ( Landesregierung Gleißner III ) and economic councilor in the subsequent state government Gleißner IV formed after the state elections in 1945 . In addition, after the state election on December 13, 1945, Schütz was sworn in as a member of the state parliament. Schütz resigned from the state government on November 4, 1949 after the ÖVP was defeated and the loss of two government seats in the 1949 state elections , but remained a member of the state parliament until April 18, 1971. In addition, he was from November 19, 1955 to November 16, 1961 club chairman deputy of the ÖVP state parliament club.
