Franz Wilhelm Sonreck

Franz Wilhelm Sonreck (born June 6, 1822 in Neviges , Velbert ; † February 7, 1900 in Cologne ) was a German organ builder .

Life

Sonreck learned the trade of organ builder from Heinrich Anton Weitz (1798–1871) in Düsseldorf. He then went on years of traveling , most of which took him through Germany and the Netherlands .

Back in his hometown, he founded a workshop there and also trained some students, including Franz Eggert and Franz Josef Schorn.

In 1850 his former employer, Engelbert Maaß, brought him to Cologne and made him his successor. There he continued the workshop in the style of Maaß and was thus also in the tradition of Balthasar König .
