Suzhou subway

The subway of Suzhou ( Chinese  苏州 轨道 交通 , Pinyin Sūzhóu Guǐdào Jiāotōng ) is the subway system of the city of Suzhou in the Jiangsu Province of the People's Republic of China .

Since 2019, the system has comprised four lines with a total length of 164 km. Completion of the entire network can be expected in 2023. Template: future / in 3 yearsA connection between the Suzhou subway and the Shanghai metro is planned for 2023.Template: future / in 3 years

line 1

Construction of line 1 began in 2008. The opening was on April 28th, 2012. Line 1 is an east-west line and runs, starting in the west, from Mudu to Zhongnanjie in the Suzhou Industrial Park in the east.

Line 2

Construction of line 2 began in 2009. It is a north-south line that runs south from Qihe to Sangtiandao Subway Station. On December 28, 2013, the section from Suzhou North Railway Station to South Baodai Bridge was opened. This creates a connection from Line 1 to Suzhou's main train stations. The extension opened on September 24, 2016.

Line 3

Line 3 runs from Xinquchengtiezhan station in the northwest, through the Wuzhoung district in the south of Suzhou and on to Weiting in the east and has 37 stations. Construction started in 2012 and the opening took place at the end of 2019.

Line 4

Line 4 is another north-south line. It starts in the north, west of Line 2 at Suji Road Station and ends at Pangjin Road Station in the south-southeast of Suzhou. After reaching the Suzhou train station, it follows the course of Renmin Road and Dongwubei Road almost exactly to the south and then leads far to the south over an arc that extends slightly to the west and opens up the Wujiang district . Line 4 opened on April 15, 2017.

Planned lines

By 2024 Template: future / in 4 years, the subway system is to consist of nine lines with a total length of around 350 km. In the medium term, the network is to consist of 15 lines with a total length of around 770 km.

Line S1

The S1 is planned as a S-Bahn line to connect with Line 11 of the Shanghai Metro at the Huaqiao terminus in the west of Shanghai. The line is scheduled to start operating in 2023.
