The Dongguan Rail Transit or Metro Dongguan ( Chinese  东莞 轨道 交通 , Pinyin Dōngguǎn guǐdào jiāotōng ) is the light rail system of the southern Chinese city ​​of Dongguan . It was put into operation on May 27, 2016 with the opening of Line 2. Three more lines are under construction or planning.

Lines

Line 2, which is already in operation, runs between Dongguan Station and Humen Station , has a length of 37.7 km and 15 stations, of which 33.7 km and 14 stations are in the tunnel. Humen Station offers a transfer option to the Guangzhou – Shenzhen – Hong Kong high-speed line . The Dongguan station connects the line to the conventional Guangzhou – Shenzhen railway line .

Line 1, which is currently under construction, runs through the city from northwest to southeast. It is to be connected to the Guangzhou Metro in the northwest and to the Shenzhen Metro in the southeast . The length of the first expansion stage is to be 58 kilometers, of which 30.3 kilometers are to run in the tunnel. It will have 21 stations, 13 of which will be in the tunnel. Line 1 will provide transfer options to the three other subway lines, but also to the intercity connections of the Chinese Railways to Shenzhen and Huizhou . The construction of this line was approved by Guangdong Province in March 2016 , the total investment is 32.9 billion yuan. The maximum speed on this route should be 120 km / h.

In the final expansion with four lines, the line network should cover 194.4 kilometers and 55 stations, 9 of which are transfer stations.
