The subway Hohhot or Metro Hohhot ( Chinese呼和浩特 地铁Pinyin Hūhéhàotè dìtiě ) is the subway network of the city of Hohhot in the Chinese autonomous region of Inner Mongolia . It went into operation at the end of 2019 with the first line opening. An expansion to five lines with a total length of 155 kilometers was approved in 2015 with the aim that public transport would have a share of 50% of total traffic in Hohhot in 2020, and the subway a share of 15%. In 2018, however, the expansion plans were discarded.

For the original planning of the route with a length of 23.2 kilometers with 19 stations, investments of 15.58 billion yuan were approved on April 15, 2015 by the State Commission for Development and Reform . A construction period from 2015 to 2019 was estimated. The tunnel construction work was completed on November 26, 2018 - 156 days earlier than planned, the opening of the line - now 21.7 kilometers in length and 20 stations - took place on December 29, 2019. This made Hohhot the 38th city in mainland China to open a subway.
