Nanchang subway
The Nanchang subway ( Chinese南昌 地铁Pinyin Nánchāng dìtiě ) is the subway network of the city of Nanchang in the Chinese province of Jiangxi . Its first line was opened in 2015, and two lines will be in operation as of summer 2019. An expansion to five lines with a total length of 198 kilometers has been approved and under construction with the aim of public transport accounting for 60% of total traffic in Nanchang and the subway accounting for 25%.
Lines in operation
line 1
The construction of Line 1 from the Olympic Center to Shuanggang Avenue was approved by the State Development and Reform Commission on August 31, 2009 . This 28.7 kilometer section with 24 stations went into operation on December 26th.
On May 5, 2015, the State Commission for Development and Reform approved the extension of this line to the east by 4.1 kilometers and 2 stations. For this, investments of 2.04 billion yuan have been approved and a construction time is estimated until 2021.
Line 2
The construction of Line 2 from Nanchang West Station to Hongdu Avenue was approved by the State Development and Reform Commission on August 31, 2009 . An extension of 8.5 kilometers and 7 stations for an investment of 3.93 billion yuan was approved on May 5, 2015. The first 19.6 kilometer section of this line went into operation on August 18, 2017. The second section followed on June 30, 2019, so that a total of 28 stations are served over 31.5 kilometers.
An extension to the east by 4.7 kilometers and 4 stations was also approved on May 5, 2015. Investments of 4.42 billion yuan and a construction period from 2017 to 2020 were estimated.
Lines under construction or planning
Line 3
Line 3 is to lead from Liantang to Jingdong Avenue. Investments of 22 billion yuan were approved in 2015 for the 26.8 km route with 22 stations. The construction time was estimated from 2015 to 2020.
Line 4
Line 4 is said to lead from Wangcheng to Huojuwu Street. Investments of 28.7 billion yuan were approved in 2015 for the route of 38.2 kilometers with 29 stations. The construction time was estimated from 2016 to 2021.
