The Chengdu Metro is the subway network of Chengdu , the capital of the Chinese province of Sichuan . The first line opened on September 27, 2010. It is planned to expand the route network to eleven subway lines with a total length of 460 kilometers by 2020. Chengdu Metro is the seventh subway network in mainland China and one of the first subway networks in southwest China. In the long term, a network with 31 lines and 1,557 kilometers of route is planned. In 2020, the share of public transport in passenger transport in Chengdu should be 33%, of which the subway should cover 35%.

line 1

Line 1 runs through the city from north to south. It was opened in its first stage from the station “Shengxian Lake” ( Chinese  升 仙湖 ) via the North and South Station to the station “Century City” ( Chinese  世纪城 ) on September 27, 2010. The total length at that time was 18.5 km, there were 16 stations. On June 8, 2013, another station was opened with "Jincheng Plaza". On July 25, 2015, the line was extended by 5.4 kilometers and five stations south to the “Guangdu” station. On March 18, 2018, the line grew by a further 17 kilometers and 11 stations: a station called “Weijianian” was added to the north, a station called “Wugensong” was added to the south, and a branch from Sihe to the science city was put into operation. As of mid-2019, the line will have 35 stations and a length of 40.9 kilometers.

Line 2

Line 2 runs through the city from northwest to southeast. Its first construction phase was opened on September 16, 2012 and ran between the Chadianzi bus station ( Chinese  茶店子 客运站 ) over 22.4 kilometers to the Institute for Public Administration ( Chinese  成都 行政 学院 ). On July 8, 2013, the route was extended in a north-westerly direction by 8.7 kilometers and led to Xipu. On October 26, 2014, it was extended 11.1 kilometers to the southeast and led to Longquanyi station. As of mid-2019, the line will have 32 stations and a length of 42.2 kilometers.

Line 3

Construction on Line 3 began on April 28, 2012. It was opened on July 31, 2016 in its first stage of expansion from the “Taipingyuan” station to Junqu General Hospital with 17 stations and 20.4 kilometers of route. On December 26, 2018, it was extended 12.7 kilometers from the hospital to the Medical University and 17.4 kilometers from Taipingyuan to Shuangliu West. As of mid-2019, the line will have 37 stations and a length of 50.5 kilometers.

Line 4

Line 4 runs through the city from west to east. Its first construction phase from the park for intangible cultural heritage to Wannianchang was 22.1 kilometers long, on June 2, 2017 it was extended by 21 kilometers from the cultural park to Wansheng and from Wannianchang to Xihe. As of mid-2019, the line will have 30 stations and a length of 43.1 kilometers.

Line 7

Line 7 is 38.6 km long and has 31 stations. It is a ring line that opened in 2017. There are eight stations where you can change to the five existing radial lines, and the city's three most important train stations ( Chengdu East , Chengdu South and Chengdu North ) are on this line.

Line 10

Construction on line 10 began in September 2014, and the first section was put into operation on September 6, 2017. It is 10.9 km long, has a total of six stations and leads from Taipingyuan station, which is also on the ring line 7 and is the provisional end point of line 3, to Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport , where both terminals are served.

On July 11, 2016, the State Commission for Development and Reform approved a 26.7-kilometer extension with nine additional stations. For this, 13.2 billion yuan in investments have been budgeted and a construction period from 2016 to 2019 is estimated. The entire line is operated with six-part Type A vehicles and was designed for a top speed of 100 km / h.

The construction of the third expansion stage of line 10 was approved by the State Commission for Development and Reform on June 17, 2019 . For the additional 5.5 kilometers with four stations, an investment of 3.7 billion yuan has been approved and a construction time of five years is estimated.

Lines under construction or planning

Line 5

Line 5 will run through Chengdu in a north-south direction, will be 49.02 kilometers long in its first and second stages and will have 41 stations, 36 of which will be underground and 5 on the surface.

Line 6

Line 6 will run through Chengdu from northwest to south, be 46.8 kilometers long in its first and second expansion stages and have 38 stations, all of which are underground. Of these 38 stations, 19 stations are designed as a transfer option to other lines, some of which are still being planned or built.

In the third stage, the line will be expanded by 21.97 kilometers and 18 stations, including 9 transfer options.

Line 8

The construction of the first expansion stage of line 8 was approved by the State Commission for Development and Reform on July 11, 2016 . It should cross the urban area from southwest to northeast. An investment of 21.9 billion yuan was approved for the 27.4 kilometer long route with 22 stations and a construction period from 2016 to 2020 is estimated. The line is to be operated with six-car Type A vehicles. It is designed for a top speed of 80 km / h.

The construction of the second expansion stage of line 8 was approved on June 17, 2019. The line is to be expanded by 6.51 kilometers and six stations at the northeast end. At the southwest end there is a station and a new 1.32 kilometer section. For this, an investment of 7.5 billion yuan has been approved and a construction period of five years has been estimated.

Line 9

The construction of line 11 was approved by the State Commission for Development and Reform on July 11, 2016 . It should complete a semicircle from the northwest of the city over the southwest to the southeast. An investment of 16.7 billion yuan was approved for the 23.7 kilometer long route with eleven stations and a construction period from 2017 to 2020 is estimated. The line is to be operated with six-car Type A vehicles. It is designed for a top speed of 100 km / h.

Line 11

The construction of line 11 was approved by the State Commission for Development and Reform on July 11, 2016 . It is supposed to run in a loop through suburbs in southern Chengdu. An investment of 16.5 billion yuan was approved for the 20.7 kilometer long route with 18 stations and a construction period from 2016 to 2019 is estimated. The line is to be operated with six-car Type A vehicles. It is designed for a top speed of 100 km / h.

Line 13

The construction of line 13 was approved by the State Commission for Development and Reform on June 17, 2019 . It should lead from west to southeast through the city. An investment of 23.6 billion yuan has been approved for the 28.85-kilometer route with 19 stations and an estimated construction time of five years. The line is to be operated with eight-car Type A vehicles. It is designed for a top speed of 140 km / h.

Line 17

The construction of the first expansion stage of line 17 was approved by the State Commission for Development and Reform on July 11, 2016 . It should connect the western suburbs to the city and offer transfers to lines 4 and 9. An investment of 14.9 billion yuan was approved for the 25.7 kilometer long route with nine stations and a construction period of 2017 to 2020 years is estimated. The line is to be operated with six-car Type A vehicles. It is designed for a top speed of 100 km / h. The route will be elevated for 5.5 kilometers and run in the tunnel for 20.1 kilometers. Seven stations are located underground.

The construction of the second expansion stage of line 17 was approved by the State Commission for Development and Reform on June 17, 2019. It leads north past the city center of Chengdu and from there to the eastern suburbs. An investment of 20 billion yuan has been approved for the 27.6 kilometer long extension with 17 stations and a construction time of five years is estimated. After the expansion, the line will be operated with eight-car Type A vehicles. It is designed for a top speed of 140 km / h.

Line 18

Line 18 is to run from the South Railway Station in a south-west direction to Chengdu Tianfu Airport . In the first and second expansion stages, the line will be 66.8 kilometers long and 12 kilometers long. This is the first line of the Chengdu subway to be realized in a private public partnership .

The construction of the third expansion stage of line 18 was approved by the State Commission for Development and Reform on June 17, 2019. This line is to be extended by 11.01 kilometers and five stations to the north. In the south, the station will be expanded by 3.28 kilometers from the airport. An investment of 14.6 billion yuan has been approved for this project and will take five years to build. After the expansion, the line will be operated with eight-car Type A vehicles. It is designed for a top speed of 140 km / h.

Line 19

The construction of line 19 was approved by the State Commission for Development and Reform on June 17, 2019 . It should lead tangentially past the city and thereby pass through several southwest and southern suburbs of Chengdu. An investment of 28.4 billion yuan has been approved for the 45.6 km long route with ten stations and a construction time of five years is estimated. The line is to be operated with eight-car Type A vehicles. It is designed for a top speed of 140 km / h.

Line 27

The construction of line 27 was approved by the State Commission for Development and Reform on June 17, 2019 . It should lead from the northwest of the city far into the northern suburbs of Chengdu. An investment of 14.8 billion yuan was approved for the 22.2 kilometer long route with 20 stations and a construction time of five years is estimated. The line is to be operated with six-part type B vehicles. It is designed for a top speed of 80 km / h.

Line 30

The construction of line 30 was approved by the State Commission for Development and Reform on June 17, 2019 . It should lead tangentially past the city and thereby pass through several southern suburbs of Chengdu. An investment of 19.1 billion yuan was approved for the 24.78-kilometer route with 24 stations and a construction period of five years is estimated. The line is to be operated with six-part type B vehicles. It is designed for a top speed of 80 km / h.

Tickets

Fares range from ¥ 2  for trips with fewer than seven stations to ¥ 5  for trips with more than 24 stations.
