Lanzhou Subway
The subway Lanzhou ( Chinese 兰州 地铁 , Pinyin Lánzhōu Dìtiě ) or Lanzhou Rail Transit ( Chinese 兰州 轨道 交通 , Pinyin Lánzhōu guǐdào jiāotōng ) is the subway system of the Chinese metropolis of Lanzhou .
In 2012, Lanzhou City's plans to build a subway network were approved by the State Development and Reform Commission . The plans provided for six lines with a total length of 207 kilometers.
Line 1 runs through Lanzhou in a west-east direction and connects the districts of Chengguan , Qilihe , Anning and Xigu with each other. In doing so, it crosses under the Yellow River , which was a technical challenge due to the unstable layer of debris under the river bed. Trial operations on the first 25.9-kilometer construction section of this line began on June 23, 2019. Investments of 17.2 billion yuan were budgeted for the construction of the line with 20 stations in 2012 .
Line 2 should also cross Lanzhou in a west-east direction. A budget of 5.8 billion yuan has been budgeted for the 9.4-kilometer route with eight stations.
Line 3 connects Chengguan, Yanchangbao, Yantan and Heping .
Lines 4, 5 and 6 should touch the city center tangentially and connect it to the outskirts. The goal was for rail traffic to account for between 15 and 20% of the traffic in Lanzhou City by 2020.
