Dalian Metro ( Chinese  大连 轨道 交通 , Pinyin Dàlián Gǔidào Jiāotōng ) is the network of rail-based public transport in the city of Dalian in northeast China . It includes both lines that are similar to a S-Bahn and are referred to as Dalian Rapid Transit , as well as subway lines . Four metro lines were in operation in 2016.

history

Dalian had an extensive tram network in the first half of the 20th century . The first line was opened on September 25, 1908, by 1950 the network with 11 lines had a length of 65.9 km. After 1950, the large population growth in Dalian increased road traffic , so that it increasingly obstructed the trams. The city's traffic authority therefore decided to downsize the tram network and gradually ceased operations on a total of eight tram lines by 1980. During this time the first plan for a subway system was made.

However, the discontinuation of tram lines could not solve the problems associated with the continued increase in road traffic, such as traffic jams and air pollution . The tram network had now shrunk to three lines. The old lines could not be reopened because they had already been taken over by bus lines . The transport authority tried to introduce environmentally friendly trolleybus lines : in addition to the first 7.5 km long line from the train station to Malan Platz, which opened in 1960, a second line from the train station to the south followed in 1977 on the route of the former tram line 6. The trolleybuses stayed the same like the other buses are stuck in traffic. In place of the expansion of the trolleybus network, an 82.4 km long public rail-bound local transport system separated from the road was proposed in 1987 for the first time in the 1990-2010 structure plan. In 2000, a structure plan 2000-2020 was created, the tram, subway, rapid transit system and regional traffic routes, the rapid transit system with respect to the station spacing correspond to an S-Bahn , but on a new line to be built with the subway -Trains should be operated. In September 2000, construction began on Line 3, which is almost 50 kilometers long and connects downtown with the Dalian Development Area and the beach in Jinshitan . The test drives began in October 2002 and regular operation began on May 1, 2003. In 2004 the extension to Dalian Railway Station followed. This line was supplemented by a branch line called Line 7 to Jinzhou , which opened on December 28, 2008.

In June 2009, the construction of the underground line 1 leading through the city center and the underground line 2 leading to the north station, sports center and airport began, which were originally supposed to open in 2012. A series of tunnel collapses in March 2010 led to a temporary construction freeze. The two lines were then opened in 2015. Together with line 3 to Jinshitan, the branch line to Jiuli and the tram line 202 (R2) opened in 2013, a network with a length of 141 km resulted.

Dalian Rapid Transit

The Dalian Rapid Transit System includes lines 3 and 7 as well as the future lines 4 and 10. The routes, some of which are elevated , but mostly at street level, have the character of an S-Bahn with station distances between two and four kilometers. The standard-gauge tracks are laid on gravel and spanned with an overhead line for 1500 V DC . All stations have side platforms and are covered.

The trains run from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. during the day and are closed at night. In the off-peak time trains run every ten minutes in the rush hour every five minutes and in the off-peak periods at intervals of 20 minutes.

The twenty four-car trains were supplied by the local locomotive factory DLoco in two series of ten. They reach a top speed of 100 km / h and need 52 minutes for the 48.58 km long line 3 with operation of the stations, which corresponds to an average speed of 64 km / h. The cars hold 800 passengers, 176 of them on seats. They are 78 m long, 2.8 m wide and 3.8 m high, and the axle load is 14 tons. It is driven by eight asynchronous travel motors with a total output of 1440 kW. The trains are derived from underground trains and have an aerodynamically optimized front.

Tickets

The full fare between Dalian Station and Jinshitan is eight yuan , and between Dalian Station and Jiuli is seven yuan. The Pearl Card is a discounted monthly ticket in chip card format .

line 1

Line 1 runs in a north-south direction, a little to the west and largely parallel to Line 3, which was first opened. The northern end point is Yaojia station, followed by Dalianbei (Dalian North) station, where you can change to the railroad. The Xianlu station is a transfer station for Line 2. Line 1 was initially opened in 2015 to Fuguojie and was extended by another station to Huizhanzhongxin in 2016.

Line 2

Line 2, like Line 1 opened in 2015, connects Dalian city center with Dalian-Zhoushuizi Airport in the northwest. The final stop in the city center is Huiyizhongxin station, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the port facilities. The line initially runs westwards via the Xianlu station, which is connected to Line 1, to Hongqixilu, where it turns north and finally reaches the airport at the Jichang terminus.

Line 3

Line 3 of the Rapid Transit System connects Dalian Railway Station in the city center with the Dalian Development Zone and Jinshitan. A third of the route is designed as an elevated railway , the rest is at street level, only one station is underground. The section from Xianglujiao station in the city center to Jinshitan was opened on May 1, 2003, and was extended by one station to Dalian station at the end of 2004.

Line 7

Line 7 of the Rapid Transit System, opened in 2008, provides a connection between Dalian and Jinzhou . It branches off from line 3 at Kaifaqu station in the Development Zone and runs 14.3 km northeast to the Jiuli terminus. There are six other stations along the line.

Line 8

The Rapid Transit Line 8 connects Lüshunkou with Dalian. The route is 42.6 km long and will initially serve 8 stops; 6 more are planned. Construction began on May 8, 2009, the opening was planned for the end of 2011, but did not take place until 2013.

Originally, Lüshunkou was to be connected to Dalian with an extension of tram line 202, which is referred to as line 4 and also opens up places on the north coast of the peninsula. Line 8 is shorter and follows the route originally assigned to line 1 along the south coast of the peninsula. Hekou station will have four tracks and two island platforms and thus enable a platform-level transition to line 1 as soon as it has been extended southwards from Huizhanzhongxin to Hekou.

line 1

Line 1, also known as the Red Line , runs 25.06 km from west to east through the city center and serves 20 stations. The line starts in Hekou and goes to Haizhiyun Park. At Xi'an Street Station there is a transfer to Line 2, from Gangwan Square, Dalian Railway Station and the terminus of Line 3 can be reached. The opening is planned for July 2014.

In 2012, Dalian Metro ordered 18 trains from CNR Dalian to operate Line 1. These B2 trains are similar to those used on the Beijing and Shenyang Metro , but like the trains that have already been delivered, they will have an aerodynamically optimized front . The interior lighting uses LED technology.

Line 1 was originally planned as a north-south line through the city with an extension along the coast to Lüshunkou , the former Port Arthur, in the west. It should start in Phoenix Peak on line 3 and head south via the North Station to Xian Street and from there via Hekou to Lüshunkou. The project to be implemented has retained the route from Hekou to Xian Street, but added the route from Xian Street to the North Railway Station to Line 2, so that it becomes the ring line. The eastern part of the original Line 2 from Xian Street to Haizhiyun Park was added to Line 1. The western branch from Hekou to Lüshunkou became Rapid Transit Line 8.

Line 2

Line 2, also known as the Blue Line , is a 42.56 km long ring line with a short turn from the North Railway Station to Yaojia. It serves 29 stations, a first section of 17 stations was opened in 2015. The line runs south from the North Railway Station to Xi'an Road, from there west to Jiaotong University and Pedagogical University, from there north to Dalian-Zhoushuizi Airport and back to the North Railway Station via the sports center. In addition to the actual ring line, the route from the North Railway Station to Yaojia is also served, giving the route the shape of a 6. There is a transfer to Line 1 on Xi'an Street and to Line 4 at Dongwei Street and Nansong Street.

In 2012, Dalian Metro ordered 20 trains from CNR Dalian to operate Line 2, which will be identical to those of Line 1.

Originally, line 2 was planned in the form of a C and Houyan was taken on line 3 via the north train station and airport to Xi'an Street and from there to Donghaigongyuan. The route from the North Railway Station via the airport to Xi'an Street was retained, but the route from Xi'an Street to the east with Line 1 was replaced by the route from Xi'an Street back to the North Railway Station and on to Yaojia exchanged, whereby line 2 became the ring line.

Line 10

The 42.7 km long S-Bahn line connects the Dalian Jinzhou New District with the Puwan New District and serves 11 stations. It runs in the extension of Line 7 from its terminus Jiuli to the northeast to Pulandian to the terminus on Puwan Zhenxing Street. Most of the route follows the Shenyang-Haikou motorway and the long-distance line. half of the route (21.8 km) is built as an elevated railway, the rest runs at street level with the exception of a 900 m long tunnel. Construction of the line began in August 2010, and the opening is planned for 2014. The project is expected to cost around ¥ 6.5 billion.

20 rapid transit trains are to be procured for operation, which allow a six-minute cycle. A later compression to a two-minute cycle should be possible by procuring another 40 trains. The total travel time from the terminus on Puwan Zhenxing Street to the train station in Dalian is said to be 90 minutes, 36 minutes of which is taken on line 10. The fare for the whole route should be 15 ¥. As on the other Rapid Transit routes, the trains should only run between 06:00 and 22:00.

Line 4

The 58.4 km long line runs from the north train station to downtown Lüshunkou and also opens up the airport in the west of the city. The line is to be built in two stages: the first part leads from Jinjiajie to Yingchengzi, the second part is the rest of the route.

Lines 5, 6 and 9

Line 5 is planned to be 8.5 km long. It starts at Zhanbei Square and leads to Ganjingzi, where passengers can transfer to Line 3. Line 6 leads to the airport on Dongshan Road. It is planned to be 10 km long. Line 6 leads to the airport on Dongshan Road. It is planned to be 10 km long. Line 9 is approximately 13 km long and runs from Yaojia to Jinbohaian.

Lines 11 and 12

Line 11 runs from Jinbohaian to Shihe and line 12 from Xiaoyaowan to Dengshahe. More is not yet known about these lines.
