Franz Wilhelm von Twickel zu Havixbeck (born April 25, 1649 in Havixbeck ; † August 28, 1681 ibid) was subdeacon and canon in Hildesheim.

Life

Origin and family

Franz Wilhelm von Twickel was born as the son of the married couple Rudolph von Twickel and Ermgard (also Erminigardia) von Bevern in an old noble family that had its origins in the Netherlands and was based in the Vreden area in the 12th century . Ermgard von Bevern brought the Havixbeck house as a dowry into the marriage. This moated castle is still the headquarters of the Twickel-Havixbeck branch today. Christoph Bernhard (1654–1719, privy councilor and official coroner) was the brother of Franz Wilhelm.

Act

With the receipt of the tonsure on November 13, 1661, Franz Wilhelm von Twickel was prepared for a spiritual life. From 1665 to 1667 he studied at the Collegium Germanicum in Rome . His stay here did not last long because his lifestyle was incompatible with that of a cleric. He wounded his opponent in a nocturnal confrontation and therefore had to flee. He began studying at the University of Siena in 1668 . In 1666 he received a cathedral canonical in Hildesheim . On May 31, 1670 he received the minor orders and was ordained a subdeacon .
