Franz Xaver Chwatal
Franz Xaver Chwatal (born June 19, 1808 in Rumburg ; † June 24, 1879 in Elmen ) was a Bohemian composer and music teacher.
Live and act
The son of an organ builder had piano lessons from his father and was already performing in public at the age of eight. He lived from 1822 to 1832 as a music teacher in Merseburg , where his first compositions were written. From 1835 he worked as a music teacher in Magdeburg . Since the 1850s he and Christian Friedrich Ehrlich headed the institute for collective piano lessons .
He composed numerous opera melodies, paraphrases and fantasies, polkas, salon pieces and etudes for the piano, three piano sonatinas, songs and male quartets, and wrote two piano schools. His compositions had a reputation for light entertainment music, Robert Schumann called them "Stübchenmusik".
