Franz Xaver Fritsch (born October 6, 1779 in Braunau , Bohemia , † August 17, 1870 in Vienna ) was an Austrian writer.

Life

Fritsch studied at the University of Prague . After graduating, he went to Vienna and got a job as a private tutor with the princely Clary-Aldringen family . When, after a few years, his services as a teacher were no longer needed, he served the prince as a librarian.

In 1825, Fritsch made the acquaintance of the writer Ludwig Tieck on the occasion of a visit to the spa in Teplitz . This resulted in a collaboration between the two, as Fritsch arranged some of his works for the stage in consultation with Tieck. In addition to these commissioned works, Fritsch also created his own works, such as poems, stories and dramas. In memory of the beginning of his literary work, he wrote under the pseudonym "Franz von Braunau".
