Franz Xaver Holzbaur

Franz Xaver Holzbaur (born September 2, 1845 in Mindelheim ; † January 9, 1912 there ) was a church and decoration painter. His father was the trimmers Matthias Holzbaur. Franz Xaver Holzbaur learned the painting trade from the Mindelheim church painter Anton Braun . Several children emerged from his marriage to Sophie Miller from Ravensburg . As a result of his apprenticeship at Braun, Holzbaur painted primarily in the Nazarene style in the historicist era . Many churches and chapels in the vicinity of Mindelheim were furnished by him. He often worked with the sculptor Stückle and the altar builders Georg Ried from Nassenbeuren and Philipp Jörg from Mattsies .
