Franz von Graffenried

Franz von Graffenried (born December 27, 1768 in Bern , † November 3, 1837 in Solothurn ) was a Swiss military person.

Von Graffenried attended the military academy in Colmar . He accompanied Napoleon in Switzerland and took part in battles in Gümmenen in 1798 as a hunter captain and in 1802 in the Stecklikkrieg . He proved himself in 1804 in the buck war and as a battalion commander in the Swiss border occupations of 1805 and 1809 and was promoted to federal brigade commander in 1815 . In 1803 he became Bernese Grand Councilor , from 1811 to 1817 he was Oberamtmann von Seftigen and from 1819 to 1829 Commander of the Bern City Police . He was also a colonel .
