Franz Josef Alfred Leopold Hermann Maria, Prince and Count of Salm-Reifferscheid-Krautheim and Dyck (born April 7, 1899 in Vienna , † June 13, 1958 in Bonn ) was a German entrepreneur from the Salm-Reifferscheidt family .

Franz Josef zu Salm-Reifferscheid-Krautheim and Dyck was the eldest child from the marriage of Alfred Fürst zu Salm-Reifferscheidt-Krautheim and Dyck and Marie-Dorothea Countess von Bellegarde.On May 27, 1930, he married Princess Cecilie zu Salm-Salm (1911–1991). The marriage had eight children. Two did not reach adulthood.
He was the sixth prince and old count of Salm-Reifferscheidt-Krautheim and Dyck. With his death, the line of the old counts and later princes of Salm-Reifferscheidt-Dyck of the Salm-Reifferscheidt family died out .
He initially lived at Alfter Castle near Bonn, and after the Second World War at Dyck Castle in Jüchen. In Alfter he supported the establishment of the Thursday Society .
Life
Franz Josef was the owner of the Salm-Dyck-Reifferscheidt'schen Mineralquellen ("Roisdorfer Mineralquelle") and took over the company under the name of "Roisdorfer Brunnen Fürst Salm & Co." in 1948 under his own management.
He was Grand Master of the "Arch Brotherhoods of St. Sebastianus" in the German Rifle Brotherhood.
On October 1, 1932, His Beatitude, the Patriarch of Jerusalem appointed Aloysius Barlassina as Rector and Administrator of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem, Prince Franz Joseph and Former Count of Salm-Reifferscheid-Krautheim and Dyck, Vice President of the German Association of the Holy Land at the time Governor of his own German Lieutenancy. Franz zu Salm-Reifferscheidt-Dyck was invested in the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Rome on May 29, 1924. His successor as German governor was Friedrich August von der Heydte after his death in 1958 .
