The woman of Skrydstrup ( Danish Skrydstruppigen pigen = girl) comes from the early Nordic Bronze Age , around 1300 BC. It was found in 1935 in a well-preserved oak coffin under a mound near Skrydstrup, southwest of Vojens , in the southern Jutland municipality of Haderslev in Denmark . The find was important for the reconstruction of women's costume from the Bronze Age in the region.

The dead woman was about 18 years old and about 1.70 m tall. She was placed in the coffin with a short-sleeved blouse made of woven wool with embroidery on the sleeves and neckline. A large square piece of fabric, gathered at the top by a belt, covered her from her waist to her feet. She wore her hair in a special shape. It was combed forward over a pad. A woolen cord was tied around the hair. Over the forehead, from temple to temple, the hair was braided like a bouquet of flowers. The hairstyle was covered with a hair net made of horse hair. A similar hairstyle is known from a grave in Hvilshøj on Mors . The woman lay on a cowhide , wore a comb on her woolen belt and large gold spiral earrings . A woolen cap was given to her.

Almost nothing remained of the woman's coffin, but the woman and her clothes were in good condition. The hill had been broken up a few years earlier and the organic matter had started to rot. If the excavation at Skrydstrup had taken place only a few years later, the gold earrings would have been the only find, everything else would have dissolved.

The results of more recent studies suggest that Skrydstrup's wife immigrated to southern Jutland from the region of what is now the Czech Republic ( Bohemia ), central Germany or France between the ages of 13 and 14 , where she died about four years later.
