The Dow Brook is a watercourse in Lancashire , England . It arises from the confluence of Carr Brook and Spen Brook in northeast Kirkham .

It flows south from Kirkham to the east. To the northeast of Freckleton , the Middle Pool branches off east of it ( 53 ° 45 ′ 55 ″  N , 2 ° 51 ′ 8 ″  W ) and curves in a southerly direction until it reunites with Dow Brook on the eastern edge of Freckleton ( 53 ° 45 ′ 7 ″  N , 2 ° 51 ′ 30 ″  W ). The Middle Brook absorbs various unnamed tributaries from the east. After reunification with the Middle Pool, the Dow Brook changes its name to Freckleton Pool , under which it flows into the River Ribble .
