Fred Fried
Fred Fried (born December 2, 1948 in New York City ) is an American jazz guitarist .
Musical career
Fried studied guitar in Los Angeles with George Van Eps and John Collins . After returning to New York, he played regularly with the Judd Wodin Trio at the World Trade Center , Birdland and other New York clubs, as well as with Art Pepper and Michael Formanek . He has also performed with Marty Napoleon , Jay Leonhart , Ruby Braff , Perry Como and Barbara Cook. He also wrote ballet music. A peculiarity of his personal style is playing with his fingers without a pick, called fingerstyle, and the use of seven and eight-string guitars.
