Fred Hepp

Fred Hepp (* 1923 in Augsburg ; † 1998 ) was a German culture editor, theater critic and author.

Live and act

After graduating from high school in 1942, Fred Hepp was drafted into the war for three years . He then studied modern history, literary history, newspaper and theater studies in Munich. After receiving his doctorate in 1950, he began working as a theater critic for the Augsburger Allgemeine Zeitung . He moved to Munich to work in the features section of the Süddeutsche Zeitung , where he was responsible for the last page for 22 years and anonymously wrote over 2,000 highlights for the front page. Grazing lights are sharply pointed glosses, often from an unusual perspective.

SZ cartoonists dedicate the book Karikade to Fred Hepp . It introduces Gabor Benedek , Ernst Hürlimann , Ernst Maria Lang and Marie Marcks .
