Fred Lauener

Fred Lauener (born May 23, 1959 in Richterswil ) is a Swiss journalist, communications specialist and expert on fragile contexts and humanitarian aid .

Lauener grew up in Uster . After high school and an apprenticeship as a businessman, he was initially involved in culture and youth political movements. From 1981 Lauener worked as a journalist; in the first few years for the weekly newspaper WoZ , Basler AZ as well as Radio DRS and TV DRS . In 1990 he was editor-in-chief of Radio Argovia . As a freelance journalist, reporter and correspondent, Lauener then worked a. a. for Die Weltwoche , SonntagsZeitung , Schweizer Familie and the magazine Facts .

After a first assignment for the UNHCR in 1997 in Bosnia-Herzegovina , Lauener began a second career in international cooperation with a focus on humanitarian aid . Since 2001 he has been advising organizations and companies in this area in particular as an independent consultant and with his company "CROSSBORDER.CH GmbH". From 2016 to March 2019 he was full-time Head of Asia / Europe in the International Cooperation department of Caritas Switzerland . Since April 2019 he has been working again as a communications consultant and copywriter as well as an independent expert on humanitarian aid and development cooperation. Fred Lauener lives in Mendrisio and Basel .
