Frederic Knudtson

Frederic Knudtson (born April 9, 1906 in North Dakota , † February 15, 1964 in Los Angeles ) was an American film editor .

Life

Frederic Knudtson gained his first experience in 1932 at RKO Pictures as an assistant editor for George Cukor's film What Price Hollywood . In the 1930s and 1940s it was used in numerous B-films , including 1938 in the RKO western The Renegade Ranger with George O'Brien and Rita Hayworth . Only after the Second World War was he entrusted with large-scale productions.

In 1950 Knudtson received his first of six Academy Award nominations for Best Editing for Ted Tetzlaff's thriller The Unheimliche Fenster ( The Window , 1949). For the film drama ... and not as a stranger ( Not as a Stranger , 1955) he worked with director Stanley Kramer for the first time . Several other joint films followed, for which Knudtson was nominated for an Oscar, including the star-studded drama The Judgment of Nuremberg ( Judgment at Nuremberg , 1961).
