Career
Gößling began his football career at TuS Jöllenbeck in the north of Bielefeld . At the age of 13 he switched to Arminia Bielefeld's C-youth . After his youth he became the goalkeeper of the amateur team and made it into the association league . On April 23, 2000 he played his first and so far only Bundesliga game against SpVgg Unterhaching (1-0 win). After the season he moved to the top division SC Herford . Already during the winter break he left the financially troubled club and went to the regional league team SC Verl , then in 2003 to the regional league team Preußen Münster .
In the summer of 2006 he switched to VfL Osnabrück . In 2007 he celebrated promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga with Lower Saxony. There he was number 1 ahead of Tino Berbig ; from August 2004 to September 2007 he was in 107 competitive games in a row over the full distance between the posts. His contract was not extended at the end of the season, Berbig stayed and Gößling was replaced by Stefan Wessels . Gößling played in 161 regional league, 20 second league and four DFB Cup games.
Then Gößling played for Oststeinbeker SV in the regional and upper league Hamburg . There he was a top performer and leading player, but left the club in the summer of 2010 to take on a job as a goalkeeping coach in the youth division of FC St. Pauli . For the 2011/12 season he became a full-time goalkeeping coach at the second division club SC Paderborn 07 . After two years at SCP, he moved to the same position for Bundesliga relegated SpVgg Greuther Fürth for the 2013/14 season .
Gößling is a qualified lawyer and completed his Masters (LL.M.) in International Sports Law at the University of Chelmsford (UK) in June 2008.
