Carl Fredrik Backman (born June 2, 1981 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish writer and blogger . In 2013 he was named the most successful author in Sweden.

Life

Backman grew up in Helsingborg and began studying religious studies, which he dropped out. He worked as a truck driver, restaurant assistant and forklift driver in a department store. In spring 2007 he was hired by the Stockholm newspaper Moore Magazine . A year and a half later, he quit there and worked freelance from then on.

Backman was originally known as a blogger in Sweden. He wrote columns for the newspapers City i Skåne , Moore , Vecko-Revyn , Café , Vi Föräldrar and from 2012 for Metro . In 2012 he made his debut with En man som heter Ove , which has sold over 600,000 times.
