career

Club career

Söderström started playing football at Östansbo IS . In 1992 he went to IK Brage and rose with the club at the end of the season in the Allsvenskan . Although the club had to relegate directly, Söderström stayed with the club.

In 1996 Söderström left Sweden and went to the Portuguese club Vitória Guimarães in the SuperLiga . He played there for five years before being signed by FC Porto in 2001 . In the 2002/03 season he played for Standard Liège and then returned to Portugal. However, it was awarded by FC Porto. His next stops were Sporting Braga and CF Estrela Amadora .

In 2005 he moved to Córdoba CF in the Segunda División B . From there it was awarded to UD Lanzarote . Following the loan deal, he was firmly committed to Lanzarote. A year later, however, he returned to Hammarby IF in his home country . There he ended his career in 2010.

National team

On June 2, 1998, Söderström made his debut for the Swedish national team when the team won 1-0 against Italy with a goal from Kennet Andersson . From then on he came to very irregular missions; he played his next international match the following year. On May 27, 1999 he came on as a substitute for Freddie Ljungberg in the 2-1 win over Jamaica at half- time. He waited even longer until his third assignment; on August 15, 2001 he was in the starting line-up in the 3-0 win over South Africa . The fourth appearance took place on November 10th in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford against England . For his last assignment in the Swedish national jersey he came on March 27, 2002; against Switzerland he was substituted on for Jesper Blomqvist at half- time.
