Fredropol is a former town in the powiat Przemyski of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship in Poland . It is the seat of the rural community of the same name with around 5600 inhabitants.

history

Former Greek Catholic Church

The city was founded by Andrzej Maksymilian Fredro southeast of the village Kormanice in the second half of the 17th century. The town was very small, the (Greek) Orthodox Church and Fredro Castle were in Kormanice.

During the first partition of Poland , Fredropol became part of the Habsburg Galicia in 1772 .

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of Austria-Hungary , the community came to Poland. In 1921 the community had 52 houses and 302 inhabitants, of which 269 were Greek Catholics, 23 Roman Catholics, and 10 were Jews. During World War II , the city was first occupied by the Soviet Union and in 1941 by Germany . As part of the Vistula action in May 1947, the local Ukrainians were forcibly resettled.

From 1975 to 1998 Fredropol was part of the Przemyśl Voivodeship .
