Fredy Schäfer

Fredy Schäfer (born October 10, 1933 in Koblenz-Horchheim ; † March 22, 2017 in Koblenz ) was a German postal worker and politician ( CDU ).

Life

Schäfer attended the Koblenz-Horchheim elementary school and the Koblenz municipal high school, where he graduated from high school in 1954. He then became a trainee inspector at the Deutsche Bundespost . In 1957, he passed the exam for the upper-class postal service and in 1987 became a qualified administrative administrator. In 1990 he was promoted to the higher service. He became senior post office councilor and in 1991 head of press and public relations as well as setting up the local business customer sales system. In 1997 he retired.

politics

In 1959 he joined the CDU and in 1969 became chairman of the CDU local association Koblenz-Horchheim and from 1980 to 1995 a member of the CDU district executive in Koblenz. From 1977 he was a member of the Koblenz City Council. From 1985 to 1992 he was a member of the district board of the CDU Local Political Association in Koblenz. In 1991 he became deputy chairman of the CDU city council group in Koblenz.

In 1991 he ran for the twelfth state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate . On March 28, 1993 he replaced Rudi Geil in the state parliament, to which he was a member until the end of the 1996 election period. In the state parliament he was a member of the committee for women's issues, the petitions committee, the social affairs and family committee and the “Infected Blood” committee of inquiry.

Volunteering

Between 1962 and 1982 he was a member of the board of the Rhineland Athletics Association. From 1969 to 1982 he was a member of the board of the Rhineland-Palatinate Athletics Association. In 1988 he was chairman of the association for the promotion and implementation of the International Athletics Evening Sports Festival in Koblenz and the organization of over 50 international athletics sports festivals as meeting director.In 1995 he became patron of the Koblenz self-help group of the German Multiple Sclerosis Society (DMSG) Rhineland-Palatinate. Between 1994 and 1999 he was an assessor in the Third Chamber of the Koblenz Administrative Court . In addition, he was a member of the board of directors of the Koblenz sports foundation, of the board of trustees of the military leisure home of the Bundeswehr in Koblenz, of the special purpose association of Sparkasse Koblenz, of the shareholders 'meeting of Energieversorgung Mittelrhein, of the shareholders' meeting of the Koblenz / Weißenthurm waterworks, of the supervisory board of the Koblenz housing company, of the Stadtwerke Koblenz, on the supervisory board of the United Wasserwerke Mittelrhein and on the supervisory board of Sporthalle Oberwerth GmbH.
