Free Munich and German artists

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Free Munich and German Art Association e. V. is an association of visual artists from Munich , Germany and the rest of the world. She organizes the annual exhibition Kunstsalon , formerly the Herbstsalon , in the Munich House of Art .

history

The association was founded in Munich in 1959 with the aim of giving contemporary artists of as many styles as possible the opportunity to exhibit their works in the Haus der Kunst ; this should tie in with the tradition of the Munich Glass Palace . Well-known artists such as Hans Jürgen Kallmann and Günter Voglsamer were among the founding members of the association ; Voglsamer became the association's first and long-term president. Since 1961, the exhibitions organized by the Free Munich and German Art Association have taken place in the Haus der Kunst, initially under the title Autumn Salon , then as an Art Salon and New Art Salon ; the exhibition for the 50th anniversary in autumn 2009 was entitled Kunstsalon Herbst 2009 . Less public artists have been involved in previous exhibitions, but also many well-known ones such as Otto Dix , Horst Haitzinger , Gerhard Merz , Jürgen Reipka and Andreas von Weizsäcker or - as early as the early 1960s - the artists of the SPUR group Lothar Fischer , Heimrad Prem and Helmut Sturm .

Goal setting and attitude

The association wants to show contemporary, innovative art from the perspective of the active. This objective includes the principle of artist self-management and the claim to give the greatest possible pluralism space and to offer the artist a forum in which he can present his works without being subject to commercial or other constraints. The association expressly sees itself in the tradition of the Munich Glass Palace, and would like to bring craftsmanship back into focus in a time of the virtual . The Free Munich and German Artists' Association attaches particular importance to close contact with the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg and the Munich Art Academy .

society

About 70 artists are members. The board consists of Christoph Haußner, Ninon Voglsamer and Sibylle Seiler-Senft.
