The Hammerauer Mühlbach and then Freilassinger Mühlbach is a left side stream of the Saalach , shortly before its confluence with the Salzach in the Bavarian district of Berchtesgadener Land . It flows on the left side along the river terrace of the Saalach and was and is used by several water mills .

The Mühlbach is at the Hammerauer three-step weir in Ainring at 438  m above sea level. NN at km 7.2 diverted from the Saalach. A large proportion of the water volume is returned to the Saalach 500 meters below after being used by a hydropower plant . Furthermore, amounts of water flow over the branching Hammerbach at 430  m above sea level. NN in front of the Ainringer district Feldkirchen and at 421  m above sea level. NN via the Saalbach branching off at the municipality boundary to Freilassing back into the Saalach. From this junction on the border to Freilassing, the stream takes on the name Freilassinger Mühlbach. East of Freilassing- Salzburghofen branches off at a little below 410  m above sea level. NN on the left side of the Mittlergraben to the Sur , before the Freilassinger Mühlgraben flows into the Saalach at km 0.7.
