description

Outbuildings

The farmhouse was built on the present site of the museum in 1981 transferred and still is a central institution of the museum. It belonged to the Šmitovi family and is the birthplace of the Slovenian poet and translator Jože Smit . The house is made entirely of wood, thatched roof and clay floor. The walls are plastered with clay and whitewashed with lime.

The outbuilding is built of stones on the ground floor and has a clay floor . The upper floors are made of wood. The lower floor served partly as a stable and partly as a wine cellar. There is a tree press at the front of the basement . The upper floor served as a threshing floor.

Pigsty

The Kozolec - a building typical of Slovenia and the most widespread here - was used to dry hay and crops such as corn. Carts and tools were stored in the basement. The Kozolec, which was rebuilt in the museum, is a particularly beautiful example with its artistically carved beams and rosettes.

The pigsty has space for four pigs. On the balcony on the first floor, straw that was used to repair damaged thatched roofs was drying.

Due to the importance of beekeeping , a beehive has been a standard part of a farm since the 19th century.

The resignation was not for reasons of hygiene in residential buildings, but usually at the manure pile.

With the Pannonian-type draw well , the water could be drawn up from the ground from a depth of a few meters. The stone on the other side of the beam acts as a counterweight with leverage.

The smithy is a reconstruction of the Dobovec village smithy . The building consists of a single room with a canopy, which allows horses to be shod even when it rains . In the blacksmith's shop you will find all the tools you need for shoeing .

winery

The winery in the museum, a replica of the original buildings in the village of Dobrina in Žetalah , is used for the museum's culinary and tourist activities.
