Frieda Hodapp

Frieda Hodapp (born August 13, 1880 in Bargen ; † September 14, 1949 in Bad Wiessee ) was a German pianist and student of Max Reger .

Life

As a free student, she studied at the Karlsruhe Conservatory from 1887 to 1891 . From 1891 to 1898 she studied at the Conservatory in Frankfurt / Main . After her first appearance in Darmstadt in 1899, she began her career in 1901 with a concert tour to St. Petersburg and Moscow. This was followed by extensive concert activities in Germany and almost all European countries, as well as teaching. After giving up her concert activities in 1932, she gave master classes in Heidelberg from 1934. During her time in Heidelberg, she worked with Fritz Henn , who had a 115-page typewritten autobiography about her. Her first marriage was to the Dutch-German music teacher James Kwast (1852–1927), her second marriage to Otto Krebs , whom she married shortly before his death in 1941.

Honors

She was "Grand Duke Hessian Chamber Virtuoso". In 1898 she received the Mendelssohn Prize in Berlin.

James Kwast and Frieda Hodapp had both been holders of the Mecklenburg-Strelitzer Order for Art and Science in Gold since 1912 .
