The District Court of Düsseldorf is part of the ordinary jurisdiction of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Seat and District of the Court

The district court (AG) has its seat in Düsseldorf . The judicial district covers the area of ​​the independent city of Düsseldorf.

The AG Düsseldorf carries out the proceedings under the Transsexual Act for the entire higher regional court district of Düsseldorf .

The Düsseldorf District Court, together with the Düsseldorf Regional Court , is housed in a new building built in 2009 at Werdener Strasse 1 in the Oberbilk district. The gross floor area is around 62,000 m².

history

With the reorganization of the courts in the Grand Duchy of Berg , the Düsseldorf Peace Court was established as the court of first instance at the end of 1811 . It was subordinate to the Tribunal of First Instance in Düsseldorf . Prussia took over the Bergisch courts in 1814. The previous peace courts remained, the first instance tribunals were renamed district courts . The Düsseldorf Peace Court was now assigned to the Düsseldorf District Court . In 1820 the organization of the courts was changed. The district courts have now become regional courts. The Düsseldorf Peace Court was subordinated to the Düsseldorf Regional Court . These were located in the Hondheim Palace on Akademiestraße in the mid-19th century . As part of the Reich Justice Acts , it was converted into the Düsseldorf District Court in 1879.

In 1913 construction began on the former justice building on Mühlenstrasse in Düsseldorf's old town . From 1956, extensions were built. The move to the new building at Werdener Straße 1 took place in March 2010.

The higher court of the Düsseldorf District Court is the Düsseldorf Regional Court and belongs to the district of the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court .
