The Mönchengladbach-Rheydt District Court is located in the Mönchengladbach district of Rheydt and is responsible for the southern districts of Giesenkirchen , Odenkirchen , Rheydt and Wickrath of the city of Mönchengladbach. The Mönchengladbach District Court is responsible for the northern part of the city . In the judicial district Rheydt some 120,000 people live.

The building was built in 1907. It was entered under No. B 071 on August 18, 1989 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .

The district court in Rheydt was built by the architects Schödrey and Verlohr at the dominant urban development point at the intersection of Brucknerallee (Augustastraße) and Nordstraße.

The facade is emphasized by risalit-like components with sandstone structures and an ornamental gable . The roof and facade area of ​​the building was severely damaged by the effects of the war during the Second World War . The remains of the badly damaged gable were removed during the reconstruction and simply provided with a roof closure.

In 1982 the top floor of the wing facing Nordstrasse, which was renovated inside after the war, was expanded. All in all, apart from the changes mentioned above, the building has largely been preserved. Attention is drawn to the entrance hall with its original staircase .
