Friederike Caroline Charlotte Louise Georgine Ernestine Tomasini , married Görner (born May 9, 1810 in Neustrelitz ; † March 20, 1886 there ) was a German opera singer ( coloratura soprano ).

Life

Friederike Tomasini was born into a family of musicians: her father was the violin virtuoso Luigi Tomasini , her mother the soprano Sophie Tomasini (née Croll, Groll, Kroll). The parents were the "stars" at the Mecklenburgisch-Strelitzschen Hoftheater .

Friederike's musical talent showed very early on. She played the violin and piano and received her first singing lessons from her mother. At the age of 16, Friederike Tomasini made her debut on November 12, 1826 in her hometown as “Lorezza” in the opera Johann von Paris . Grand Duke Georg sent the young singer to Munich for further training at his own expense. After her return, she excelled in all the major roles in her field until the court theater was closed in 1818, in the meantime appointed ducal chamber singer. After that she appeared mainly in court concerts. The singer turned down offers from major German opera stages to employ her as a permanent member of the ensemble, as she did not want to leave her home country.

On May 22, 1832, the singer married the actor and director of the Neustrelitz court theater, Karl August Görner . The marriage, which was divorced in 1856, had five children, of whom the sons Max and Georg devoted themselves to the acting profession. According to family legends, Friederike Tomasini is said to have been a mistress of Grand Duke Georg.

The artist, known far beyond the (partial) Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz , has appeared on all major German stages / court theaters, for example in Munich, Berlin, Dresden, Stuttgart, Mannheim, Weimar and Coburg. She particularly shone in operas by Francois Adrien Boieldieu , Gaetano Donizetti , Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Christoph Willibald Gluck , Carl Maria von Weber and Gioachino Rossini .

The actress and singer Christine Görner , famous in the 1950 / 1960s, is her great-granddaughter.
