Friederike Caroline von Alvensleben , divorced Döbbelin , b. von Klinglin (born March 5, 1749 in Brussels , † April 10, 1799 in Redekin ) was known as a German actress under the name of Friederike Caroline Döbbelin .

family

Their origin has never been fully established. According to family tradition, she is said to come from the Alsatian von Klinglin family and grew up in a monastery. She joined the theater group of Karl Theophil Döbbelin , whom she married in 1762 under the name Anna Catharina Friderici. In 1763 a son was born. In 1776 the marriage was divorced and she married the chamberlain Johann Friedrich von Alvensleben (1736-1819) for the second time . She had six children with him, including the later district administrator Eduard von Alvensleben (1787–1876). The writer Ludwig von Alvensleben (1800–1868) was her grandson.

Life

As the wife of the director of a well-known German theater group, whose main achievement was to create recognition for the German-speaking theater in Germany, she mostly played the leading roles in the dramas by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing in Braunschweig, Magdeburg, Leipzig, Halle and Berlin , among others as “ Emilia Galotti ” (premiered on March 13, 1772 in Braunschweig) and “ Minna von Barnhelm ” (premiered in Berlin on March 21, 1768). Her actor colleague Joseph Anton Christ described her in his memoirs as "Lady, slim like a birch and beautiful like Cythere (= Aphrodite )." After her second marriage, she left the theater and lived with her family first in Vienau and later in Redekin, where she is buried with her second husband in the churchyard of the Redekin village church .
