Friedhelm Döhler

Friedhelm Döhler (born September 29, 1908 in Nerchau , Saxony , † February 27, 1968 in East Berlin ) was a German horn player .

Life

After attending school in Nerchau and Grimma , he studied music at the State University of Music Weimar . As a horn player he went to the Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra , which in 1943 assigned him and other musicians to the Reichs-Bruckner-Orchester . In Linz is remembered in the 1960s at him because he every evening from the balcony of his hotel room the curfew had blown.

After the Second World War he was automatically arrested . He returned to Leipzig in 1946 and played in the Leipzig Philharmonic . In 1948 he moved to the Sondershausen Loh Orchestra .

On May 1, 1950 he became principal horn at the Komische Oper Berlin and at the same time lecturer at the "Hanns Eisler" University of Music in Berlin . There he was appointed chamber virtuoso and later professor . He fell ill with chronic emphysembronchitis and from 1963 devoted himself exclusively to teaching at the university. Eberhard Rebling paid tribute to Döhler's life's work in his funeral speech.

Döhler was married to Charlotte geb. Brown wood from Weimar . The son Michael and the grandson Stefan live in Berlin . Rüdiger Döhler is a nephew .
